Every once in awhile when trying to clamp a workpiece to my bench, the reach of the clamp’s jaws comes up a little short. So I call on a simple clamping extension to solve the problem.
The extension consists of a spacer and a short strip of wood. It works kind of like a hold-down. One end of the strip rests on the workpiece, the other end on the spacer. When you apply a clamp between the spacer and the workpiece, the strip presses down on the workpiece to hold it firmly in place. It’s easy to make, easy to use, and best of all works great.
